JACK BLASY (How to Dance) was born and grew up in Midland, Michigan. He received a degree in physics from Western Michigan University and Masters Degrees in nuclear engineering from Catholic University of America and in management from George Washington University, both in Washington, DC. After graduation, Jack served two years as an officer in the US Army and 28 years with the Atomic Energy Commission and Department of Energy. After retiring from the government he worked for another 13 years for the University of California at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he became involved in a US sponsored program to work with Russia to improve the protection of nuclear weapons. This work involved over 40 trips to Russia plus trips to Ukraine, and Estonia. Jack has three children in California. In addition to history, his other interests are ballroom dancing and foreign travel. He has been to over 85 foreign countries.
